Seminar on First Aid Training & Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace
Organized by Indian Council of Industrial Management (ICIM)
Venue: Radisson Blu, Sector 18, Noida
The Indian Council of Industrial Management (ICIM), in collaboration with Legal Infosolutions Pvt. Ltd. and supported by Utthan Samiti, successfully organized a high-impact seminar focused on two critical aspects of workplace compliance and employee welfare: First Aid Training and Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH).
The seminar was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Mr. Lalit Thukral, Chairman, NAEC, and Mr. Satendra Singh, Chairman & Director of ICIM.
Importance of First Aid Training Under the Factory Act
Mr. Lalit Thukral emphasized the urgent need for mandatory First Aid Training in all industrial units, especially in Gautam Buddha Nagar – a major industrial hub. He underscored that St. John Ambulance is the only body recognized under the Factories Act to provide such training. Proper first aid preparedness can save lives during emergencies and ensure quick response to workplace accidents.
Legal Compliance & Export Readiness
Mr. Satendra Singh highlighted that many industrial mishaps occur due to a lack of legal awareness among factory and establishment owners. ICIM aims to bridge this gap by educating stakeholders on labour laws and compliance requirements. He explained how legal compliance, especially in export-oriented sectors like garments, directly influences the ability to secure international orders.
Mr. Singh further addressed the audience on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, stating that every establishment with more than 10 employees must form an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), comprising:
Non-compliance with this requirement can attract a fine of ?50,000 under the law. He added that this provision is essential to create a safe and inclusive work environment for women. In case of inaction by the ICC, complaints are escalated to the District Committee.
Through this seminar, ICIM reinforced its commitment to industrial development, workplace safety, and gender sensitivity. By equipping employers and employees with essential knowledge on first aid and workplace harassment laws, ICIM continues to drive a culture of responsibility, compliance, and inclusive growth across India’s industrial landscape.
